SHØBA, formerly known as ‘Shota,’ is a singer, producer, engineer, and DJ from Durban, South Africa, who has evolved his artistry since his early days with Shana. In 2007, he launched his label, now known as SHØBA Music, producing for top artists like L’vovo, Theo Kgosinkwe, Kelly Khumalo, Professor, and Big Nuz, while collaborating with Black Coffee, DJ Euphonik and Culoe De Song.
Drawing inspiration from his African heritage, SHØBA's sound is rooted in Afro-house, Afro-tech, and electronic dance music - continuously evolving and pushing the culture forward.

SHØBA's journey is one of resilience and purpose. After years of success under the name Shota, his career took an unexpected turn when his youngest son was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma (eye cancer), leading him to step away from the spotlight. During this period of reflection, he embraced a profound personal transformation, changing his name to SHØBA. The Ø symbolizes "zero limits"—representing an artist without boundaries, driven by purpose, heritage, and artistic evolution.
Returning with a renewed vision, SHØBA made his comeback at Black Coffee's historic Madison Square Garden show in New York before embarking on international tours across Europe and the Middle East. Today, he continues to champion African electronic music on the global stage, with a story that is as powerful as the music he creates.
